During our garden-making party, we removed the stump, threw on some depleted potting soil from a container garden and a bunch of california native wildflower seeds. Thank you for the tip on using newspaper to cover the lawn, and just add compost on top of the grass for the rolling hill effect. We have tried to dig the clay soil and it just too much work, with a young baby, it seems like a impossible task. We live in Sunnyvale and most houses has large front and back yard lawn. I have been gardening for a long time, now we finally have our own house, I am excited to turn it into a water saving and beautiful garden!
